With pathways from beginner to instructor, SUP Wise courses meet international standards and cover a range of topics to enhance your skills and ensure your safety on the water. With modular learning, you can progress easily at your own pace.

Choose from different formats:
ASI SUP Wise ACTIVE : Perfect for SUP beginners. Enjoy fun, practical sessions available in three modules (Starter, Improver, Cruiser). Complete one or all modules at your convenience.
ASI SUP Wise Certificate Course : More in-depth 10-hour SUP skills certificate course, also ideal for school sports and community groups.
ASI SUP Wise INTENSIV : Comprehensive learning, with 12 months access to online manual (or paper manual), can be combined with on water sessions.

Flat Water Paddling
The first step in learning to stand-up paddleboard (SUP) is to practice on calm, flat waters. This way, you can concentrate on developing your skills.

ASI SUP Wise ACTIV Program (Enclosed Flat Waters)
Inland Locations
Ideal for SUP beginners, these fun and practical sessions teach essential techniques and safety. With 3 modules (Starter, Improver, Cruiser) available, each can be completed individually at your own pace. Progress from basics to confidently joining paddle tours and social paddles.
Enrol in all 3 modules at the same time, and receive a bonus SUP Wise logbook.
Join at times that suit you. 1 or 2 hrs each session.

#1 Starter: Your introduction to SUP. You'll learn basic paddle skills, entry and exit techniques, stopping, falling, re-mounting, positioning, posture, and risk awareness. By the end of the session, you'll feel confident with the basics and eager for the next session..
#2 Improver: We build on the skills from the Starter session, focusing on hand positioning, paddle entry, vertical paddle, recovery, and self-rescue. You'll start feeling more comfortable on the SUP board and paddle with greater ease.
#3 Cruiser: This session will enhance your paddle technique by focusing on the five phases of the paddle stroke, turning, pivot turns, and cadence. You’ll start to understand how to gain speed and efficiency through the water, and feel confident to paddle on short paddle tours and social paddles.

ASI SUP Wise Level 1 Certificate Program (Enclosed Flat Waters)
Inland Locations.
Delivered over 10-12 hours with 5 or 6 on water practical sessions to gain more confidence and skills on the water. Gain a SUP Wise participation certificate on completion.

ASI SUP Wise INTENSIV / ASI Stand Up Paddlers Card
Earn your ASI Stand Up Paddlers Card by completing the ASI SUP Wise Intensiv course. You'll gain in-depth knowledge about all things SUP with practical on water sessions, technical feedback and access to a 16-chapter online reference manual. It's a testament to your SUP skills and the card can be used to rent SUP boards.

Coastal Waters Paddling
After mastering flat water paddling, you can move on to coastal areas, which offer a range of water conditions from calm to choppy. You'll need to upgrade your paddle techniques and gain ocean knowledge to paddle with ease in these varying conditions.

ASI SUP Wise ACTIV Program (Exposed Waters)
Coastal locations.
3 engaging modules—Starter, Improver, and Cruiser. These fun and practical sessions teach essential paddle techniques and safety in coastal waters. Learning about water movements and hazards to understanding the fundamentals of negotiating and catching small unbroken waves (swell). Gain the skills to explore beautiful coastal locations and connect with wildlife from a whole new perspective!
Enrol in all 3 modules and receive a bonus SUP Wise logbook.

#1 Starter: Your introduction to coastal paddling covers essential paddle skills, shore-break entry/exit, standing with exposed waters posture and paddle stroke, changing paddle direction, balancing in choppy water, turning techniques, paddling on your knees, handling falling off and getting back on, stopping, and SUP etiquette.
#2 Improver: Building on the starter module, this session covers the coastal environment and its unique hazards, including surface water movement, current direction, rips, and wind impact on paddling. You'll learn self-rescue techniques and their applications. Additionally, you'll practice negotiating and catching swell (small unbroken waves), keeping the board in trim, and using power up/power down paddle stroke methods to maintain momentum.
#3 Cruiser: We focus on perfecting pivot and Kahi stroke turns in choppy waters. You'll review everything you've learned by taking a paddle tour along the coast, practicing paddling on unbroken waves, and assessing environmental conditions, rips, and currents with your newfound confidence.

ASI SUP Wise Level 2 Certificate Program (Exposed Waters)
Coastal locations.
Master basic paddling skills in coastal locations. Delivered over 10-12 hours with 5 or 6 on water practical sessions. Gain a participation certificate on completion.

SUP Surfing
Experience the exhilaration of catching waves. But there are added challenges in your ability to safely control the board, to negotiate and catch waves and understanding surf conditions. Once you are competent at paddling in exposed waters/coastal locations, can you start learning to SUP surf.
SUP Wise ACTIV Starter - SUP Surfing Beginner Level
#1 Starter
Try an introduction session. Learn the very basics of SUP surfing and surf safety.

SUP Downwind
Experience the exhilarating world of SUP downwinding, where specialized stand-up paddleboards, ocean swells, and the wind join forces to propel you through an unforgettable adventure. Once you are competent at paddling in exposed waters/coastal locations, with swell up to 2ft, winds of 20km/hr, and can paddle coastal distances of 5kms, can you start learning to SUP downwind.
