Instructor Renewals
Maintain Professionalism and Stay Updated
ASI Instructors renew their Instructor certification each year to show professionalism and keep their skills current—no extra courses needed, just complete the online form and provide evidence.
The Process
Login in to your member area on the ASI website. Click here
Complete the online renewal form and payment.
Provide copies of current (not expired) rescue and first aid certificates
Experience: On the renewal form, list details of where:
You completed at least 25 hours of paid or voluntary work in the past 12 months
With ASI or non-ASI schools, clubs, or similar
Specify the name of the school, its location, the number of hours (which should relate to the highest level certification you hold), and the approximate time and months you worked.
L4 Master Surfing Coaches also provide additional details of delivering competition coaching skills, for at least 2 persons, to a minimum regional level, over the previous two year period.
Renewal Date
ASI has annual renewal dates:
30 June: UK, Europe, USA, Americas
31 December: Australia, Asia
Renew on time to avoid late fees.
Out of Date Aid/Rescue Certificates: If you don't have your current rescue and/or first aid certificates, or have completed all your work hours, you can still renew to stay registered and not pay the late fee. We cannot issue your instructor certificate until these are provided, and you are not permitted to work as an instructor in the meantime.
You have 12 months to submit the necessary certificates, but if we don’t receive them by the next renewal date, your certification will be cancelled.
If I am enrolled in a higher-level course but have not yet completed it: Do I still need to renew my current certification? Yes, you must renew any certification that is set to expire in order to remain current. Once you obtain your higher-level certification, the expiry dates will be adjusted accordingly.
