SUP Wise Skill Level (SUP Surfing Advanced)
Overview
The ASI SUP Surfing Advanced Level identifies an elite surf paddler who commands the line-up with power, speed, and absolute control in surf up to 6 feet.
At this level, you possess the advanced oceanography knowledge to predict conditions across diverse surf breaks.
Aim
Perform and link advanced level SUP surfing manoeuvres, with control, speed and correct use of paddle, in surf up to 6ft (2 metres)
Environment Location and Conditions
Advanced level SUP surfing locations are defined as:
Surf up to 6ft (2 metres)
Green face / peeling waves
Beach break, reef break, river mouth break, point breaks
Minimal wind speed (less than 12 knots, offshore winds less than 10 knots)
Rips and channel present
Equipment

Skills and Knowledge
Pre-requisite
Holds the skills and knowledge at the SUP Wise SUP Surf Intermediate level
Water Safety
Able to swim 500 metres (1,640 ft)
And able to swim from surf break back to shore (distance depends on where you are surfing)
Environment & Safety
Predict surf conditions at different surf breaks based on weather, tide, and land formations.
Identify SUP safety issues for the advanced SUP surf paddler
Select a safe SUP surf location for the advanced level SUP surfing

Choose suitable SUP surfing board and equipment
SUP Surfing Skills
Demonstrate correct wipe-out and mount/dismount
Demonstrate correct SUP surf etiquette
Correct paddling technique and stance
Techniques for taking off and finishing the ride
Use the paddle correctly to assist ability to perform manoeuvres
Use speed and power to perform manoeuvres
Able to surf in the critical part of wave
SUP Surfing Manoeuvres
