Surf Coaching-Advanced Skills (IPDJ Credits)

Gain the knowledge to take students from intermediate to advanced levels. Covering analysis and technique correction, drills and skills, video analysis, creating individualized coaching programs, and how to assess and coach both individuals and groups to enhance their surfing performance.

Approved by the IPDJ, these courses are for instructors holding Desporto Grau 1 and 2 certificate. Earn 3 Credits (3 Unidades de Crédito, IPDJ). This is a participation course only, with no formal assessment. Upon attending the workshop, you'll be eligible to receive the IPDJ-approved ASI course certificate.

Learn the skills and knowledge to coach individuals in advanced surfing skills.

For coaching in surf locations with surf 4ft (1 metre) to 6ft (2 metres).

This is a professional skills update course for instructors holding Treinador De Desporto Surfing Grau 1 or 2.

  • Advanced level surfing criteria and competencies

  • Factors affecting surfing dynamics and performance

  • Manoeuvres performed at the advanced level

  • The mechanics of advanced level surfing manoevures

  • Assessing advanced level surfing performance

  • Identify drills to improve performance

  • Individualised coaching sessions & programs

  • Prepare group coaching sessions & programs

  • Conduct effective video analysis

  • Hold Treinador De Desporto Surfing Grau course.

  • Have surfing skill and knowledge equivalent to ASI Level 9 Advanced Surfer.  Able to perform and link advanced level manoeuvres - roundhouse cut-back, floater, snap, vertical re-entry, tube ride, with power and speed, in surf up to 6ft  (2 metres), at different types of surf breaks.

Workshop:  An intensive course that focuses on the major components, with the ability to interact with the trainer and the group. 
Duration:  2 days.  9am to 5.30pm

The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:

  • Surf clothing

  • Fibreglass surfboard to demonstrate ASI Level 9 advanced surfing skills.
