About
Edge Disability SUP is an ASI-accredited school located in Musselburgh, East Lothian—just a 20-minute drive from Edinburgh.
They specialise in providing sessions for young adults who are autistic and/ or have other additional support needs (ASN). Participants learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons, as part of their supported day programmes.
Meet the Team
Part of Edge Group Scotland, the SUP School is led by a dedicated team of highly experienced autism and disability social care professionals, who are also experienced paddleboarders and adventure lovers.
Their sessions are designed for young adults with cognitive, sensory, learning, and developmental differences, including autism, neurodivergence, and mental health-related conditions.
Being outdoors is a massive part of the holistic approach to the support they provide to autistic individuals and those with additional support needs.
Instructors are fully certified with ASI SUP instructor qualifications, alongside training in first aid and water rescue. All team members are trained in first aid and water rescue as a minimum.
They are passionate about encouraging people to become more independent and enjoy activities they are interested in.
Their mission is to make the outdoors accessible to all—ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in Scotland’s stunning outdoor locations.

dge Disability SUP provides group and private lessons, guided SUP tours, and the comprehensive SUP Wise Learn to SUP program—designed specifically for participants with disabilities.
Welcoming, accessible, and inclusive, Edge Disability SUP believes paddleboarding should be available to all. Their sessions are designed to encourage independence and fun.
All sessions are structured and tailored to the needs of the participants.
The focus is on individuals’ wellbeing including self-esteem, resilience, confidence, social trust, positive functioning and friendships and developing this through SUP activities.
SUP sessions are also organised by experience level, from complete beginners to seasoned paddlers looking to advance their skills. This ensures every participant gains the most from each session, regardless of where they start.

Their sessions take place at Musselburgh Lagoons, where calm, sheltered waters provide a safe and supportive environment for learning to SUP and building confidence within a group setting.
Surrounded by lush woodlands and vibrant birdlife, this tranquil spot offers a peaceful, scenic paddleboarding experience.
For those ready to take their skills further, Edge Disability SUP also operates at nearby Seacliff Beach in North Berwick. This stunning coastal location is perfect for progressing into open water paddling.
Sessions are carefully scheduled to coincide with calm sea conditions, allowing participants to enjoy the beauty of the Scottish shoreline while developing their abilities.
