Learn how to stand up paddle and have stand up paddle lessons at Surf the Bay Surf School, an ASI accredited stand up paddle school, located at Broulee (near Batemans Bay, Narooma and Ulladella), approximately 300 kilometres south of Sydney and 150 kilometres from Canberra.


Surf the Bay Surf School is owned and run by Tim Lassau and Glen Hall.   Both Tim and Glen grew up in the local area and have been surfing most of their lives and paddling when it became popular.   

Tim is a qualified primary school education teacher is an ASI accredited SUP and Surfing Instructor.  Glen is a qualified high school teacher and has been an accredited surf instructor since 2007.  They also hold surf rescue and senior first aid qualifications.


Surf the Bay services the Ulladella to Narooma areas and offers group and private stand up paddle lessons, stand up paddle guiding tours in enclosed flat waters for families, kids, adults, parties, community groups and corporates.  

They specialise in providing surfing programs for school groups.  They can customize and offer programs and resources that are VET approved, fit into the sports curriculum and organise and manage surf and stand up paddle activity camps from 1 day to weekly or more.
A personalized service is offered for stand up paddle.  Being locals, we can offer a wealth of knowledge of the local area, find the best paddle spots and provide tips and interesting information on the area.

Surf the Bay is also a surf school offering surfing lessons from beginner to intermediates levels at nearby Broulee beach.


The area has an abundance of inland waterways and rivers.   Including the Tomaga River going through the town of Tomakin, Narooma River, Clyde River and Estuary and Moruya River. 

There is an abundance of wildlife, crystal clear waters and natural vegetation.  

It’s the ideal place paddle, relax and enjoy nature all around, in very safe, flat water in picturesque surroundings.
