Meet the Team
Ocean Sports Centre is owned and run by Glenn Eldridge, and elite International competitor include a ‘Surf Ironman’ in Surf Life Saving, European medalists along with training and racing as part of the British Olympic Racing Squad in sprint kayak (k4 1000m). And now a world medalist in long distance ocean ski.
He holds various instructor qualifications in canoe, kayak, SUP and lifesaving. He is also a college lecturer in sports science.
Glenn has spent a life time spent immersed in the ocean, competing, working as a professional beach lifeguard in the UK and Australia, surfing and paddling whichever craft he could get his hands on.
He started Ocean Sports Centre to offer SUP and a variety of water sports and introduce people to sports that he loves.
Service Overview
The Centre offers group and private SUP lessons from beginner to advanced levels for kids, adults, parties, stag and hen groups, school groups, corporate and family groups.
ASI SUP Wise certificate courses are offered for a range of SUP skill levels from enclosed flat water to down winding and personal elite competition coaching.
Ocean Sports is also an AALA (Adventures Activities Licencing Authority) Accredited Centre – this ensures we have the correct support craft and safety procedures in place if you should ever need assistance.
Ocean Sports is also an ASI Instructor Training and Glenn Eldridge is authorised to train others to be ASI SUP Instructors.
Ocean Sports Centre also offers kayaking sailing and outrigger canoe activities and tours.
School Features
Ocean Sports Centre school is located right on the beach. With changing rooms and toilets, places to store your gear or you can just hang out with like-minded people.
There is also a café right on the water, with outdoor deck – ideal for watching the water action and stunning sunsets in summer.
It’s a fun place to be.
There is also limited car parking right on the beach (fee applies). But there is also free street parking and other parking stations are a 10 minute walk away.
The train station is also right at Carbis Bay, only a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Location Features
Located right on the beach at Carbis Bay. It’s a unique and stunning location, a golden sandy beach and clear waters, you could call it the Cornish Caribbean!
The ocean waters are nice and protected and offer excellent flat water conditions for beginners. Further out, you can paddle into St Ives, find some surf breaks or enjoy some downwinding. This location has it all.
Only 10 mins from St Ives main town, so escape the hustle and bustle and come and relax on this best kept secret!
