Meet the Team
Itogahama SUP Terrace is owned and operated by Yuichi Tsuno, an experienced paddler with more than 20 years of water experience. Yuichi has paddled throughout Japan, as well as in Hawaii and Hong Kong, and brings a strong understanding of different paddling environments to the school.
Yuichi holds the higher level ASI SUP Technical Coach certification as well as ASI Level 2 SUP Instructor (Exposed Waters) for coastal location, ASI Level ASI SUP Rescue qualifications, and first aid certificates.
He started the school to share the freedom, enjoyment and health benefits of SUP with others. They have been an ASI Accredited SUP School since 2018, making them one of the most experienced SUP school operators in Japan.
Yuichi’s approach is relaxed, practical and safety-focused, helping paddlers build confidence while enjoying the natural beauty of Itogahama Beach.
He is assisted in the SUP school by ASI Accredited SUP Instructors.
Services Overview
Itogahama SUP Terrace provides group and private lessons, SUP Wise “learn to SUP” certificate courses, guided SUP tours, team building programs, and equipment rentals for kids, adults, school groups, parties, and corporate groups.
As a SUP Technical Coach, Yuichi provides detailed analysis of your paddle stroke and develops tailored programs to help you improve your paddling ability, so you can paddle faster, more confidently and with ease.
The SUP School also offers a range of SUP tours, including sunrise and sunset paddles, hidden cave explorations, and extended coastal routes throughout the Oita region. Each tour is planned according to weather, tides, paddling ability, and overall safety conditions.
SUP rentals are available for participants who already have some paddling experience.
Itogahama SUP Terrace also operates a SUP shop, offering boards and related equipment, and helping paddlers choose gear that matches their skill level and goals.

SUP lessons and activities are held at Itogahama Beach, in Hiji-machi, Oita. It is a peaceful coastal location with calm, shallow waters, sandy beach areas and beautiful views across Beppu Bay.
The sheltered conditions make it a great place for beginners to learn SUP, practise paddle technique and enjoy a relaxed paddle close to shore.
As you paddle along, you can enjoy the open sea views, fresh ocean air and the natural scenery of the surrounding coastline.

Accommodation
Itogahama Seaside Park has log cabins, auto camping sites and tent camping areas. It is located along the same stretch of Itogahama Beach, and only a short walk to the SUP School.

Itogahama Seaside Park itself is a popular seaside leisure area with a shallow sandy beach, camping, BBQ facilities, playgrounds, park golf, tennis courts and coastal views.
Nearby Beppu is famous for its natural hot springs, while the surrounding region includes family-friendly attractions, seaside cafés, fresh seafood, historic sites and scenic viewpoints.
