Beach Etiquette: 7 Simple Tips for Everyone’s Enjoyment

HELP

A day at the beach should be all about sunshine, salt air, and unwinding. To keep the shoreline enjoyable for everyone, a little beach etiquette goes a long way.

🌊 1. Skip the Cabanas

Large cabanas take up valuable space and block ocean views. A simple shade tent or hat keeps things breezy without dominating the sand.

💨 2. Avoid Umbrellas on Windy Days

Umbrellas can easily become dangerous projectiles when the wind picks up. If conditions are gusty, choose a low‑profile shade option instead.

🧺 3. Shake Your Towel With Care

Always check the wind direction before shaking off sand. If the beach is crowded, roll up your towel, take it with you, and shake it away from others to avoid giving someone an accidental sand shower.

🩴 4. Mind Your Footwear

Flip‑flops and sandals can flick sand onto nearby beachgoers. Take them off when walking close to others to keep the peace.

 5. Save Ball Games for Open Spaces

Ball games take up room, send people running through others’ space, and can kick up sand—or worse, hit someone. Keep active play to designated areas or quieter parts of the beach.

🎶 6. Keep the Volume Down

Many people come to the beach to relax and enjoy the natural sounds of the ocean. If you’re listening to music, keep it low or use headphones.

🗑️ 7. Take Your Rubbish With You

Always pack out what you bring in. Food wrappers, bottles, and even tiny bits of plastic can harm wildlife and spoil the beach for others.

🌞 A little courtesy helps everyone enjoy their day by the water. Spread the word and keep our beaches calm, clean, and welcoming.
