Refund Policy

No refund is provided once training manuals have been issued, practical sessions attended or e-learning account has been accessed.  Otherwise full refund less $75 administration fee.

Usual Rate: Australian Dollars.AUD $ 120

Complete theory online - work from home.
Complete practical assessments with an ASI Trainer.

There is a building near the entrance.  The meeting room is in this building.
Parking is available.


This is an online course, with practical assessments completed with a trainer.   The trainer will provide some guidance on the practical surf rescue requirements and provide feedback. 

Complete the online learning theory, using the ASI e-learning platform.

Then contact your trainer to complete your practical session.  Date and time is organised with a trainer to suit your schedule.

There is a maximum of 2 people and the hours may slightly change depending if it is one person or two people.

Wollongong Surf Leisure. Caravan park.  Range of accommodations.  Located right on the beach and only 10 minute cycle ride to venue (the caravan park hires cycles)

Novotel Hotel North Wollongong. On the Beach. Opposite training venue.

Sydney. Mascot International Airport  (80 km, approx 1 hour drive)
Train link from airport to Wollongong (1 hour 30 mins) 

Wollongong Illawarra Regional Airport.  (located at Shellharbour, 20 ksm / 30 mins drive to Wollongong) 
Train available at Albion Park Station (11 min walk from airport) to  Wollongong (30 mins train ride)

North Wollongong  (7 mins walk to training venue)

Novotel Hotel bus stop.  Opposite training venue

The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:

  • Surf clothing 
  • Access to computer
  • A person/buddy to complete rescue

Your instructor training centre will provide:

  • Beginner soft-top boards with soft fins and leash – to undertake rescues

Wollongong is located approximately 1 hours drive (80 km) south of Sydney city centre.  

It is an adventure sports activity paradise with inland waterways, amazing surf beaches, national parks and cafe society.

The beaches are pristine with "The Farm" - a famous surf break nearby, plus many other excellent surf breaks.

There is a huge range of accommodation options from backpackers, caravan parks to 5 star luxury, all in easy reach to the beaches.
