SUP Instructor Professional Skills Update Course

Designed for ASI certified instructors, this course provides an opportunity to refresh and update your technical skills and industry knowledge. It is recommended every three years to ensure you remain current with best‑practice standards.

The program includes practical, on‑water training with informal, personalised feedback from your trainer. You’ll also receive access to two ASI online manuals to review key theory components. After completing the accompanying online quizzes, you will be awarded your SUP Instructor Professional Skills Update Certification.

Update ASI SUP instructor technical knowledge and skills.

For ASI Level 1 or Level 2 SUP Instructors.  The course is conducted in flat water locations. 

ASI SUP Instructor  

  • review ASI SUP techniques guidelines and standards

  • on water paddling skills and paddle stroke competencies 

  • receive informal feedback on your SUP techniques

  • update skills knowledge for paddle skills, stroke and instructor competencies

Hold current ASI SUP Instructor certification

Hybrid Course.  Workshop 3 hours + online theory

On water practice -  paddling techniques / skill. 

After the workshop, complete online quizzes  - 100%

Access to online manuals

  • ASI SUP Wise Intensiv - online manual

  • ASI Level 1 SUP Instructor (Enclosed Flat Water) - online manual  

The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:

  • Flat water stand up paddle board

  • Paddle, coiled leash 

  • SUP clothing suitable for paddling

  • Computer or phone for online access

Q1. Is there formal assessment of paddle stroke skills?
A1: No.  the aim is to update knowledge and skills, receive feedback on any areas of improvement.

Q2:  My SUP Instructor certification has expired. Can I attend this course?
A2:  No

Q3:  What options do I have if my ASI SUP Instructor certification has expired?
A3:  you can enrol in the update course if not expired by more than 18 months. 
Or enrol in the full course if your certification has expired by more than 18 months.
