1. Mandatory Prerequisite: ASI SUP Wise Intensiv

To hold the Level 1 SUP Instructor certification, you must hold or complete the ASI SUP Wise Intensiv certificate—ASI’s essential SUP safety and paddling knowledge course.

How to Complete Your Level 1 Certification

  1. Choose Your Learning Format:

    • In-Person Workshop: Attend a hands-on 2-day practical workshop with an ASI Trainer (includes 1 or 2 supervised coaching hours signed off during the workshop).

    • Hybrid: Complete theory online at your own pace, followed by a 1-day practical workshop (includes 1 or 2 supervised coaching hours signed off during the workshop).

    • Online Study with Practical Assessments: Complete theory self-paced online, submit video recordings of your paddling/coaching, and complete mandatory in-person supervised coaching hours.

  2. Complete 10 Supervised Coaching Hours (Level 1 Instructor Course Only): Gain real-world coaching experience at an ASI accredited school, under an ASI instructor, or other approved supervisor. (Note: Attending an in-person or hybrid workshop includes 1 or 2 supervised coaching hours credited directly toward your 10-hour total).

  3. Submit Safety Qualifications: Upload your completed SUP Wise Intensiv, Water Safety Rescue, and First Aid certificates.
