What is your background?

I’m a passionate surfer from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.   I’ve been living here for 9 years.

Noosa is one of the world’s top surf destinations — known for its crystal-clear water, long peeling point breaks, and breathtaking natural surrounds.

I got into surfing about 5 years ago and have never looked back.  The ocean is such a big part of my life now — it’s where I feel most at home.

In 2022 when I was 19, I qualified as an ASI Surfing Instructor.

What got you involved in the sport?

Since I was young, I was always around the beach on weekends with my family — playing in the surf and bodyboarding. About 5 years ago, one random winter’s day, I went down to the beach with my family and caught my first stand-up wave by myself. Ever since that moment, I’ve been hooked.

Surfing has completely changed my life. I’m so grateful to have found it — it’s given me so many special memories and led me to meet some amazing people along the way.

Why did you become an ASI instructor?

I wanted to share my skills and experience with people who are eager to learn. Being able to share my love for surfing and seeing the thrill and excitement that students get when they progress is something really special. It’s so rewarding to help others connect with the ocean the way I have.

What are you doing now ?

At the moment, I’m helping manage Sunshine Coast Elite Surf Coaching, as ASI accredited surf school near Noosa, where I work with everyone from beginners to experienced surfers.

If I’m not working, you’ll find me surfing or out enjoying the endless abundance of nature we have around here.   The ocean and outdoors are a huge part of my everyday life.

What do you like about being an instructor?

I love helping people experience the same emotions I feel when I surf.  Seeing people progress and enjoy the sport is what makes me happy.

Sharing my experience with others is so special and inspiring — it’s an amazing feeling to be part of someone’s surf journey.

It’s great to  have a job that I love.   I get to work and play at the same time !

Tell us about an inspiring story about your student(s) or memorable experiences,  you've had while instructing.

There have been so many amazing moments.

What I love most is when someone is really keen to surf, gives it 100%, and then nails it out in the water. Seeing that huge smile on their face says it all — it’s what makes coaching so rewarding for me.

It’s also really nice to show the tourists the beaches where I surf and get them to experience the same fun I do in the water.
