Introducing ASI SUP Instructor, Wei-Ming Yin (Alvin).

Posted date: 25-March-2020

TAIWAN.  Introducing ASI SUP Instructor, Wei-Ming Yin (Alvin) based in Taiwan. His love for exploring nature led him to become an ASI instructor.  He combines his day job with delivering SUP lessons in a water recreation centre.

1.       What is your background?
I was a PE teacher but ended up working in integrated marketing public relations activities.

2.       What got you involved in the sport?
I got involved with SUP because I’ve always loved nature and SUP is a way to explore the oceans and rivers.  My children are also interested in water sports and it’s a good way to teach them safety when in contact with water.
3.       Why did you become an ASI instructor?
I like to explore nature and being an ASI instructor gave me an opportunity to do that.  It’s great to be able to take people out on a SUP board and explore nature that way.
4.       What do you like about being an ASI instructor?
Experiencing and exploring nature every time I’m on a SUP board. It also makes me happy to see students learn and apply what they’ve learnt on the ocean or river
5.       Tell us about funny or interesting or nice situation that has happened to you with instructing?
One lesson I was instructing at the beginning, I saw that everyone was serious and scared. But as soon as people got on their boards, everyone became relaxed and happy. It just nice to see that SUP can do that to people.
