Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons and tours at SUP Bazis an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located at Poroszló, Hungary. 

Only 1.5 hours drive from Budapest, with SUP sessions held on Lake Tisza,  the largest artificial inland lake in Hungry. It’s a paradise for stand up paddling.

SUP Bazis is owned and operated by Ildiko Kocsis.  She is an outdoors sports enthusiast,  experienced stand up paddler, with windsurf, wakeboard and snowboarding skills.  Having paddled in various locations around the world, Ildiko previously set up and operated her own SUP school in Sri Lanka.  She also has a University degree communication sciences, Economic Studies and Economic Management. 

SUP Bazis proudly stands as Hungary's first ASI accredited SUP school. Drawing from her extensive experience running a SUP school overseas, Ildiko founded the school in her homeland.

Unlike existing SUP rental businesses in Hungary, SUP Bazis offers comprehensive lessons, tours, and advanced skill training. While stand-up paddling might seem easy, mastering it requires proper education and practice to ensure confidence and correct technique.

The aim is to provide an environmentally friendly framework, where people can learn to SUP or progress their SUP skills, learn about SUP safety,  join in SUP community events, and feel part of the SUP community.    

Ildiko holds the higher level ASI SUP Technical Coach certificate, highlighting her exceptional technical expertise.   As well as holding water rescue and first aid qualifications.  She is assisted in the SUP school by other ASI accredited SUP instructors.

The other co-founder of SUP Bázis is György Barna, an ASI Level 1 SUP instructor. In addition to SUP coaching and training, he is also involved in e-surf instruction. Before focusing on SUP, he was active in wakeboarding and previously co-operated a surf school in Sri Lanka together with Ildikó. By profession, he is a journalist, producer, and communication trainer.

SUP Bazis offers group and private lessons, SUP Tours SUP Wise programs, rentals and community events.

SUP activities include:

  • The “SUP Bázis Social SUP program” for underprivileged children living in the area.

  • Ambassador of the Starboard SUPKIDS program in Hungary.

  • Training not just hobby paddlers, but junior SUP racers (Ms. Csillag Kocsis junior WM) as well.

SUP lessons, tours, and activities are held at Lake Tisza, nestled within the Hortobágy National Park. Just a 1.5-hour drive from Budapest, this is Hungary’s largest artificial lake, spanning 127 square kilometers and 27 kilometers in length, with numerous small islands.

Lake Tisza is a popular tourist destination, boasting excellent facilities. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, Hortobágy National Park is home to diverse bird species (over 200), plants, and animals.

SUP sessions are also conducted on the nearby River Tisza, Hungary’s largest river system, which traverses the entire country.

The conditions for stand-up paddling here are ideal. The SUP Bazis school, located in a sheltered spot on the lake, offers a range of SUP lessons. There are various tours available to explore the lake, its islands, and numerous small bays. SUP marathons and races take place in other parts of the lake and river.

It’s a fantastic place to experience stand-up paddling, observe wildlife as you paddle along, and soak in the scenic natural surroundings.

We have a lovely, intimate nest for you as well. You can reserve your individual house (full property!) with a garden, A/C, own kitchen etc.!
