Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Culburra Beach Surf School and Board Hire, an ASI accredited surf school, located at beautiful Culburra Beach, NSW Australia. It's a popular holiday destination, only 3 hours south of Sydney and 30 minutes from Nowra.
Meet the Team
Peter and Sue Hill own and operate the Culburra Beach Surf School and Beach Hire. They've lived in the local area for over 35 years and know all the local beaches and surf breaks inside out.
Peter is the head coach. He has been surfing for over 35 years and has won numerous surfing competitions - local and state-wide. He is a qualified Education teacher, a qualified ASI surfing instructor, a life member of the Culburra Beach and Nowra Surf Club, President of the Nippers, a qualified Peer Support Program trainer, holds his Bronze Life Saving Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation, Senior First Aid certificates and jet ski licence.
Peter also created the Shoalhaven School Surfing Program in 1985 and it has run continuously since that time. This includes teaching surf awareness (visiting schools in the area), surfing and competition skills.
He has also coached the School Surfing Team, which has seen students compete at the State level.
Culburra Surf School was started in 2002, and is one of the most established surf schools in the region.
Peter is assisted in the surf school with highly qualified ASI surfing instructors.
Service Overview
Culburra Beach Surf School and Hire offers group and private, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, surfing guide trips, team building, surfing awareness, board hire, sea kayaking for kids, adults, parties, school groups, disadvantage groups and corporates.
You'll have fun and at each step of the way, surfing your first wave and more!
Kids surfing camps are held in the holidays, with sprecially designed surfing programs to suit all ages.
The school can also cater for select groups ensuring you a very special experience.
Surf coaching is available to for improver to intermediate surfing skills.
With each surf lesson, you also receive 5% discount from Entity Surfboards, a high-quality local manufacturer of surfboards.

Location Features
Culburra beaches are ideal for beginners through to advanced surfers.
The beaches are untouched, with bush growing onto the beach. Soak in the surrounds and feel relaxed and peaceful, whilst catching waves with the dolphins.
Surf lessons are held at Culburra Beach. It’s known for its long stretch of sand and varied banks, with consistent waves that are ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers. The gentle sloping beach break produces small to medium-sized waves, perfect for learning to surf. The beach is patrolled in summer, making it a safe place for families.
Surf lessons are also held at nearby Warrain Beach and Crookhaven Beach.
Warrain Beach is located next to Culburra Beach. Its another popular spot with a long, wide stretch of sand and a gentle beach break. It's great for beginners and intermediate surfers.
Crookhaven Beach is also nearby and offers some excellent surf spots, ideal for beginners and the more experienced surfers.

Toilet facilities and ample parking are at each of the locations.
There are also picnic facilities available on the foreshore at Culburra Beach and Crookhaven.
Tourist Attractions
Culburra Beach, located on the South Coast of New South Wales, is a charming destination with plenty of attractions for visitors to enjoy.
There is great fishing in the nearby river and lakes, and world class restaurants and shops.
Check out the famous "Swinging Swaggy" craft shop - which has works from over 30 different potters displaying a large range of crafts, art, leatherwork and woodwork.
Enjoy a peaceful morning stroll along the beach as the sun rises. It's a beautiful and serene experience, and you might even spot dolphins or whales in migration season.
Penguin Head Lookout is an ideal spot to watch passing whales and resident seals. The lookout provides stunning coastal views.
