Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Algarve Surf School, a ASI accredited surf school, located at Sagres on Portugal's Algarve coastline only 30 minutes from Lagos.   

Algarve Surf School is owned and operated by Sergio Brandao, a pioneer of the surf school industry in Portugal.

He was one of the first to set up a surf school/camp in Portugal. Operating since 1996, it is one of the most longest operating and successful schools in Portugal.

Sergio is an elite advanced surfer, has travelled the world surfing and coached in other countries including Australia, Brazil, France & Italy. He is vice president and team coach of the Algarve Surf Club and has personally coached numerous surfing champions over a period of 30 years.

He holds ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach, Treinador De Surf Grau 2, First Aid, surf rescue qualifications and has won awards from the local Camera/Council for services to the industry.

Sergio is assisted in the surf school by a team of experienced and qualified surfing instructors.

Algarve Surf School was set up to share the passion for surfing and to share awareness / create responsible surfers who know rules and etiquette, not just techniques.

Algarve Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, Surf Wise beginner to advanced surfing certificate courses, team building, surfing awareness for kids, adults, parties, school groups, parties, hens and stag parties and corporates. 

They specialise in Surf and stay packages The Surf hostel has excellent accommodation facilities and includes lessons and surf tours catering for all levels of ability.   

The team at Algarve Surf School will ensure you get the best waves on the day, based on their knowledge of the local surf breaks.

The Surf school also offers Kids grom sessions, to help develop surfing ability and coach and prepare kids to competition level if they desire.

Skills coaching, competition coaching and video coaching is available for intermediate to advanced levels. 

Algarve Surf School is an ASI Instructor Training Centre and authorised to train ASI Surfing Instructors.

Surfboard and wetsuit rentals are available.

Algarve Surf School surf camp / hostel is based in Sagres, right in town next to cafes and bars.  

They also have a surf base right on the beach at Amado. It has excellent facilities including showers, toilets, equipment storage. There are cafes and bars all around, making it a great place to hang out.

There is a large range of surf breaks in and around Sagres.   Offering perfect beginner waves so you can learn to surf with ease. 

You can also advance your skills with nearby locations offering intermediate and advanced level surf breaks.

The area is surrounded by protected national park, unspoiled white beaches, great surf and dramatic cliffs. 

Algarve Surf School offer surf hostel accommodation – share rooms and private rooms.  It is in a central location right in the town of Sagres, within walking distance to shops, cafes and beaches. 

There is also a large selection of hotels in town.

Sagres is one of Portugal’s most historic towns, located on a headland overlooking a picturesque harbour.  Due to its position on a headland, you can see the sun rise over the ocean and also set over the ocean. 

There is a 16th century fort built on the peninsula and nearby are historic churches and natural features, including menhirs standing stones.

Sagres has 300 days of sunshine per year, making it the idea location to live, visit and surf.

Only 30 minutes from Sagres is Lagos.  A lively town with an historic city centre, cobbled streets, surrounded by  ancient Moorish walls and extends along the pretty harbor estuary. There is a great variety of cafes and shopping and nightlife.
