Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at East Coast Surf School, an ASI accredited surf school, located at Pt Leo on the Mornington Peninsula, only 1 ½ drive from Melbourne.

Point Leo offers small waves ideal for beginners learning to surf. The surf school also operates at various locations on the Mornington Peninsula, including Gunnamatta Beach and also at Wilsons Promontory.

Set amongst natural parklands, there is also a large choice of surf locations, so you can be sure to find good surf depending on the conditions and your ability.

East Coast Surf School is owned and operated by Prue Latchford, an accomplished surfer and coach recognized nationally and internationally as the former Australian Masters Women's Champion

East Coast Surf School is owned and run by Prue Latchford. Prue is an accomplished surfer and coach recognized nationally and internationally as the former Australian Masters Women's Champion 2001 and finishing 3rd at the World Surf Masters Championships 2003.  

As a coach with Victoria Team she assisted in the development of surfers from beginners to state and national qualifiers.  Prue has been surfing Point Leo for the past 40 years including swimming, sailing, diving, waterskiing and windsurfing.  All activities Prue says "helped her to understand and feel comfortable in the ocean environment".

East Coast Surf School has been Prue's full time occupation since 2000.  During this time she has run surfing days for many diverse groups including disabled and disadvantaged groups, naval personnel, aboriginal groups, cancer support groups, at risk groups, Girls Surf Day and many more. 

For Prue she "has learned a great deal from the people involved with these groups as well as the participants themselves".

Prue is an ASI Accredited Surfing Instructor and holds surf rescue, and first aid qualifications. She is assisted in the surf school by a team of qualified instructors who also compete in local and state surfing competitions. 

East Coast Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, Surf Wise beginner to advanced surfing certificate courses, team building, surfing awareness for kids, adults, parties, school groups, parties, girls only, not-for-profit charity groups and corporates.

The Surf School caters for any individuals or groups who have the desire to learn how to surf or improve on their current skills and knowledge. 

The surf school operates at various locations on the Mornington Peninsula and Wilsons Promontory.  Most lessons are based at Point Leo. With sessions also at Gunnamatta Beach.
