Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons and tours at Island SUP School an ASI accredited School, owned by Kerry Baker. Located at Jackson's Bay on Barry Island, Barry, 9 miles south of Cardiff.
Kerry is an accomplished water woman who has been stand-up paddle boarding since 2010.
Island SUP School aims to support and nurture the sport of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) within its local community and beyond, providing a wide spectrum of coaching sessions from complete beginners through to those hoping to compete for their country at a national and international level.
They offer SUP paddling adventures and have the Island SUP Club which hosts monthly SUP events.
Meet the Team
Island SUP School owner Kerry Baker is an accomplished water woman who has been stand-up paddle boarding since 2010 and a surfer since the age of 14.
She started SUP racing during the winter of 2014 at the mighty BaySUP Frostbite Race Series in Bournemouth, UK and the welcome was so warm, she never looked back.
Her achievements include 3rd in 12’6” UKSUP, 1st in the world of Naish One Design racing and in 2017 competing for Wales at the ISA Worlds in Denmark as a Naish team rider.
Kerry is a primary school teacher and ASI Level 2 SUP (Exposed Waters) accredited instructor.
Service Overview
Island SUP School offers group and private lessons, SUP Wise learn to SUP certificate courses, SUP tours, team building and rentals for kids, adults, backpackers, parties, hens and stag parties, school groups, and corporates.
There are SUP socials and SUP coastal adventures and weekly club nights.
The weekly club nights run from April - September and operates alternately between Jackson's Bay and Barry Community Water Activity Centre (due to tidal activity).
Island SUP Club offers a two-tier club night providing members with a progressive system.

Island SUP School is located at Jackson's Bay on Barry Island, Barry, UK, 9 miles south of Cardiff.
Jackson's Bay is a picturesque sandy, cove beach offering shelter from prevailing westerly winds. The Barry Community Water Activity Centre, Barry Dock is also very sheltered offering calm conditions.
The coast have stunning views and secluded coves, ideal for exploring on a paddle board.
Tourist Attractions
Barry Island is a popular resort, with most of its activities centred in the Whitmore Bay area (ideal for surfing, windsurfing, sea kayaking or beach volleyball) and in the nearby pleasure park, which has amusement arcades and more than 50 rides and other attractions.
The Glamorgan Heritage Coast stretches for 14 miles, from Aberthaw to Porthcawl with plunging cliffs, secluded coves and breathtaking views, it is a must for walkers, cyclists or anyone with a love of the countryside.
