What You'll Be Able To do
Perform simple rescues using a SUP board.
At: outdoor environments:
inland waterways including rivers, lakes, estuaries, canals
coastal locations
In the following conditions:
flat water, no swell, no unbroken waves, no breaking waves
Where Can You Work
Water safety roles within the SUP industry or outdoor recreation industry.
What You Will Learn
Emergency response — identify and respond to water / SUP emergencies.
Signals & reporting — use emergency signals and communicate incidents.
Rescue skills — apply rescue techniques using a SUP rescue board. Understand holds and releases and free rescue techniques.
In water rescues — perform conscious and unconscious patient rescues using SUP board. Use correct prone paddling techniques to ferry a patient to shore with appropriate landing techniques.
Spinal management — recognise potential spinal injuries and respond safely.
Entry Requirements
Before starting this course, you must meet:
General Fitness: Be medically and physically fit.
Water Fitness Skills: Able to swim a minimum of 100 metres (328 ft), run 200 metres (650 ft), prone paddle the SUP board 200 metres (650ft) within 10 minutes, without stopping in flat water conditions.
Course Requirements
Before you can gain your certificate, you’ll need to complete the below:

(1) Water Fitness Ability:
Complete a timed fitness mission test: swim 100 metres (328 ft), run 200 metres (650 ft), prone paddle SUP board 200 metres (650ft) within 10 minutes, without stopping.
(2) Rescue Skills Ability:
Demonstrate rescue of an unconscious person using double roll method with your SUP board (in deep water) and paddling patient successfully back to shore.
(3)Knowledge:
Complete multi-choice test
(4) Submit Required Certificates:
A current senior first aid certificate Acceptable First Aid certificates
Time to complete: 12 months

Valid for 24 months.
Renewal
There is no renewal for this certificate. To obtain a new certificate, participants complete the course again to update skills and knowledge.
