Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons and tours at WhatSUP Tours & Training, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located in Brisbane, Queensland.
Offering paddling lessons at Shorncliffe, only 30 mins from the city CBD, and Murrumba Downs just outside Brisbane’s outer limits. They are unique locations with a range of paddling options and scenic outlooks with calm waters.
Guided tours are also provided around Hays Inlet, the North Pine and Brisbane River offering something for every level of paddler from beginner to expert. Along with great local knowledge, some the tours also have drink and meal inclusions.
WhatSUP Tours & Training is owned and operated by Simon Prosser. Simon has been stand up paddle boarding since 2008. He has a construction industry background and paddling provided the ideal outlet from a hectic work schedule. Being out on the water was calming, it was fun and was a great way to get fit.
Simon decided on a life work change and set up his own SUP school. Offering opportunities to introduce others to SUP, teach people how to SUP and organise SUP tours to interesting places.
He has a wealth of experience paddling in Brisbane and surrounds and chooses locations ideal for SUP. This ensures you have the best and safest paddling experience.
Simon holds ASI Level 1 and Level 2 SUP Instructor accreditation for Enclosed Flat Water and Exposed Waters locations, water rescue and first aid qualifications.
He is assisted in the SUP school with experienced and accredited SUP instructors.

Moora Park, Shorncliffe
Offers stunning sunrises and perfect conditions for paddling because of the break water protection. This area is a Marine protection zone so you never know what you might type of wildlife you see whilst paddling.
Before or after paddling, there are great facilities you may need with toilets, BBQ’S, a huge playground for the kids, plenty of covered picnic tables, large grass areas, 2 car parks and a café located nearby.
Acacia Park, Murrumba Downs
Acacia park is situated in a quiet residential estate on the northern bank of the north pine river, just outside the outer limits of Brisbane
It has a small sandy beach surrounded by bushland and calm waters for paddling, where you may also see an koala !
The park is also situated near a habitat protection zone and local “osprey house” so there is plenty of birdlife to see as you paddle along.
Shorncliffe Pier: Historical Shorncliffe pier is located at Moora Park and was completed in 1872. This park has been enjoyed by Brisbane locals for generations. The pier received a 20 million dollar revamp in 2014.
Walkways: Moora park is the start of a walkway which runs for km’s all the way along the coastline to the mouth of the north pine river.
