Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons at Summer SUP School, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located at Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, Ireland only 3 ½ hours drive west of Dublin.

 

With Muirti's knowledge of the local waters, passion for SUP and vast array of qualifications and experience your time with Summer SUP school will leave you "stoked on the sport of SUP".
 

Summer SUP is owned and operated by Muirti O'Cearnaigh.   He has been teaching water sports for over 16 years full time and also owns a lifeguard training school and is a Beach Lifeguard Trainer. He also holds multiple watersports coaching qualifications.

 

Muirti decided to set up Summer SUP School after travelling around the world and experiencing SUP in the southern hemisphere.  He saw the potential to offer SUP in the local area with its wide variety of waterways ideal for paddling from flat water to SUP surfing. 

 

Muirti holds ASI Level 1 and Level 2 SUP Instructor accreditation for Enclosed Flat Water and Exposed Waters locations, water rescue and first aid qualifications.   He is assisted in the SUP school with experienced and accredited SUP instructors.    

Summer SUP offers group and private SUP lessons, rentals, Summer Camps, certificate courses, SUP tours and fitness workouts for kids, adults, parties, school groups, backpackers, universities and corporates.

Lessons are held at Old Head Beach - a unique location due to its east facing beaches on the Wild Atlantic Way.

 

The beach is sheltered from the south and west and is therefore well-suited for swimming and stand up paddling. Lifeguards are on duty through the summer months, the beach is accessible for wheelchairs, as are the toilets. There is a pier at the western end of the beach, sheltering a small anchorage popular with local sailors and fishermen.

 

It is an area of outstanding views to Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. Its combination of crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and micro climate it is the ideal place for Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

 

There is also a small campsite and village shop and pub.
