Activities

Learn how to stand up paddle and have SUP lessons at Soul Kite, an ASI accredited learn to stand up paddle school, located at Bicton Perth, Western Australia.

Soul Kite is owned and operated by Alexis Grandemange. He is an experienced SUP and kitesurfing instructor and got involved in stand up paddling in about 2011 as it was  great activity to do when there was no wind for kitesurfing.  Since then he has introduced hundreds of people to SUP by providing lessons and tours.

Alexis is an ASI Level 2 SUP Instructor (Exposed Waters), holding water rescue and first aid qualifications.

He is assisted in the SUP school with experienced and accredited SUP instructors.

Soul Kite offers group and private SUP lessons, certificate courses, team building and SUP tours, for children, adults and corporate groups, birthday parties, hens and stags parties, backpackers, tourists and families.

Supervised board rentals are also available for paddlers with experience.

Point Walter Reserve has toilets, two shaded playgrounds, cycle and walking paths, a jetty, and a boat ramp.

There is public carparking and a café.

There are beautiful grassed areas on the water with barbecue areas.

Point Walter is notable for the sandbar or spit that extends over 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) into the river, which is often submerged at high tide.

The local Aboriginals believe the sandbar was the hair of the Dreamtime figure Djunda (alternatively spelt Junda), the Charnok woman, and the nearby cliffs at Blackwall Reach were her footprints. Djunda is said to have carried spirit children in her hair, who, when they fell out, formed rocks.  (1)

SUP lessons are held on the beautiful flat waters of the Swan River at Bicton Bath, Point Walter Reserve in Black Wall Reach.   It’s only 20 minutes from Perth city centre and 10 minutes’ drive from Fremantle.

The locations are ideal for learning to SUP and having SUP tours as the waters are protected and smooth.  There is also an abundance of bird wildlife.

Come for one lesson or join in for SUP tours on a weekly basis.  It’s the best way to get fit and enjoy the serenity of the Swan River.
