HELP

AUSTRALIA.  We want to bring back the Cash for Containers regulations in ALL states in Australia.
There is nothing worse than surfing or stand up paddling, enjoying nature, when you see drink containers float by you !

Everyone has seen drink containers littered in our street and parks, caught along creek banks and lying on beach sands, floating out to sea.   But did you know that every minute 15,000 bottles and cans are littered or landfilled in Australia?

Only South Australia kept a cash for containers system (CDS) which has proven itself with excellent recycling and significantly lower littering rates over three decades.

In South Australia, 10c deposit can be refunded when the empty container; bottle, can or carton, is returned to Pooraka Bottle & Can Recycling Depot Adelaide in South Australia; and for many Adelaide people is how to make money recycling.

Now the state of NSW says it will bring back the Cash for Containers scheme 1 July 2017.   Which is good news.

But the big drink companies are still fighting it.

Let’s get behind the NSW government and show them we are IN FULL SUPPORT of the cash for containers laws.  And let’s get in contact with the other states to ask them to put the Cash for Deposit scheme in place.

It makes sense, it cleans up our environment, its encourages and rewards those who want to recycle.

So, what exactly is a Container Deposit Scheme?
A container deposit scheme is based on a refundable deposit able to be redeemed by the consumer or collectors at convenient locations. In other words, people get cash for recycling their containers. There are over 40 such systems around the world including in South Australia and the Northern Territory. In SA which has a 10 cent deposit, over 85% of containers are recycled.
