Level 2 Bodyboarding Instructor


The ASI accredited Level 2 bodyboarding instructor training course is for instructors with advanced bodyboarding skill and at least 12 months bodyboarding instruction experience.

Course Overview


Aim:

Manage and instruct clients at the advanced bodyboarding level.

Locations:

Surf 3 ft.(1 metre) to 6ft (2 metres)


Career outcomes:

Bodyboarding instructor within the bodyboarding or outdoor recreation industry.
Industry job roles that require bodyboarding knowledge (e.g. sales rep, retail).

Topics covered:

  • Identify and manage advanced level bodyboarding risks and hazards
  • Minimise environmental impacts (social and natural)
  • Emergency processes and response
  • Assess students advanced level skills and identify areas for training
  • Prepare individualised training programs for advanced level students
  • Evaluating bodyboarding lessons

Level 2 Assessment & Competency Record Book
12 months membership

Certificate issued:

ASI Level 2 Bodyboarding Instructor

and (as applicable) Australian Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) Statement of Attainment in Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation (SIS40310).

 


Delivery Options

The ASI Level 2 Bodyboarding Instructor course can be completed by:

  • Attending a workshop

Delivery option - Workshop:

Workshop course requirements:

At workshop:

  • Complete written assessments
  • Demonstrate a minimum of intermediate bodyboarding skill: bottom turn, cutback, spin, roll
  • Demonstrate lesson delivery

After the workshop:
Complete 25 hours practical work experience, assisting in delivering advanced level bodyboarding lessons, with an ASI accredited or approved bodyboarding school, with Record Book log signed by bodyboarding school owner.

Before or after the workshop, provide copies of:

  • Personal identification (e.g drivers licence or passport)
  • Working with Children Check (as applicable to the country are working in. Information)
  • Surf Rescue certificate  and  Senior First Aid certificate, OR
    Lifesaving (Combined Rescue & First Aid certificate).

Surf Rescue:   Date of certificate is no more than 2 years old from date of completion (or 1 year old for Australia)  Find Approved Surf Rescue Training Providers

Senior First Aid:  The certificate date must be no more than 3 years old from date of completion.  Find Description and Approved Senior First Aid Training Providers

Duration:

Workshop: 2 days
Plus: post workshop practical work experience
You have 12 months from date of workshop to complete all course requirements.

Bring to workshop:

Surf clothing and bodyboard to demonstrate advanced level bodyboarding skills.
