Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Wedge Surf School, an ASI accredited surf school, located at beautiful South West Rocks, North coast, New South Wales, Australia. (only 1.5 hours south of Coffs Harbour or 1.5 hours north of Port Macquarie).
South West Rocks is a town of 3500 population with some hidden perfection surfing breaks for the experienced and one of the safest swimming and beginner surfing lessons beaches on the east coast at Trial Bay. Beaches are very family orientated and safe and fully patrolled by our trusty surf life saving red and gold beach protectors.
Damion Treloar and his wife, Robin, are the owners of the Wedge Surf School. Damion has been surfing for over 30 years. As a kid, he would jump on the train and explore the surf in country New South Wales and Queensland. He’s competed in all areas of the sport from school surf teams (Miami High), club comps (Burleigh Boardriders) titles, inter club comps and invitationals. He still competes and recently (January 2008) won gold in the over 40s country competition and silver in the open.
Damion holds the following: Level 4 Master Surfing Coach, Level 1 Surf Coach Surf Lifesaving, bronze surf lifesaving medallion, first aid, defibrillator, spinal management, 4 Wheel Driver Training qualification, Certificate II in Public Safety, water craft operators certificate (jet ski). His training qualifications are: Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, First Aid Trainer, Professional Ocean Lifeguard Award Level 1 (APOLA) trainer, ASI surfing instructor trainer.
Damion is also a lifesaving IRB crewman, IRB silver medallion driver, patrol captain and surf coach with the local surf club. Damion also runs the Upper North Coast surfing competition for Surf Life Saving.
A dedicated free surfer, Damion’s passion is surfing and helping people of all ages and backgrounds, including disadvantaged youth and disabled people, get the passion.
Wedge Surf School is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC). Damion is an ASI Level 4 Trainer and is authorised to train others to be ASI accredited surfing instructors.
Wedge Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, surfing guide trips, team building, surfing awareness, canoeing and kayaking for kids, adults, parties, school groups, disadvantage groups and corporates.

South West Rocks, New South Wales, Australia is the ideal holiday and getaway location. Not only offering surfing but a variety of other sports including mountain bike riding, kayaking, fishing, diving and best of all whale watching. Also visit the historic Trial Bay Goal - set in the national park.
We don’t need a boat to see the whales. They come right into our coast, only 50 metres from the shore. I have had a very exciting experience of a huge whale only 20 feet next to me while doing a patrol in a lifesaving boat.
It happens. South West Rocks is the place to relax but you can still find the rush in your selected sport.
