Comprehensive Training

In early 2009, ASI created the SUP accreditation system for instructors.  As a result, ASI stand up paddle instructor training programs are the best and only comprehensive SUP instructor programs available in the world today.  

Your ASI qualification is recognised as the international standard in stand up paddle instruction.

As an ASI Instructor, we aim to elevate your thinking and understanding of the sports grass roots to ensure its longevity, so that wherever there is a body of water suitable for learning, you will be able to educate to the highest of levels in such a way as to keep your customers safe and on a natural pathway of progression.

ASI does not simply offer our instructors a 'bolt-on' course for those who already instruct surfing, as we acknowledge the uniqueness of the sport which must be instructed as a stand alone sport, not simply a mere add on to an existing sport.

Stand up paddleboarding's rapid rise in popularity combines many of the ancient skills of outrigger canoe paddling with that of surfing.  ASI recognises the importance of ensuring that the fundamentals of paddling are taught as central to a complete understanding of the sport, being that the use of the paddle, is the primary point of difference over that of conventional surfing. Sound paddling skills will allow the end user to take on the sport with greater enjoyment and success across a broader spectrum of all the differing niche areas.

With some 80% of the world's participants being removed from a surf environment, we begin with our Level 1 Flat Water Foundation Course on the basis that this represents the majority of would be participants interest levels and geographical proximity.

Because ASI SUP programs have been developed by leaders in the SUP and ocean sports industry, you get the benefit of their experience with helpful instructing tips and methodologies and all the resources you need to deliver fun and safe instruction to your clients.  


Career progression

ASI is the only SUP education organisation worldwide to offer a comprehensive range of instructor qualifications from Level 1 to Level 6 Master Instructor and specialisation streams of racing and SUP surfing.

Start at Level 1 and as your sup instructor career develops, progress to higher levels.  ASI instructor qualifications provide recognition for your SUP skill and instruction experience.
