Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Robbie Sherwells XL Surfing Academy, an ASI accredited surf school, located at Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, near Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Robbie Sherwells XL Surfing Academy is owned and run by Robbie Sherwell. Robbie has been surfing for 31 years. He competed on the World Pro Circuit for 8 years and was rated number 5 in the world for 1 month. He was selected for the State of Origin Qld surfing team twice and won in 1994, captained the surfing team to visit Tahiti 1996 and was the undefeated Parbendal open surfing champion 1998 to 2000. Robbie was also was sports ambassador for the Sunshine Coast 1994 and currently provides the surf reports for local newspapers and radio stations.
Robbie is an ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach and holds surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications. Robbie, his wife Carlene and their team of experienced accredited instructors provide the ultimate surf experience.
XL Surfing Academy is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC). Robbie is an ASI Level 4 Trainer and is authorised to train others to be ASI accredited surfing instructors.
XL Surfing Academy offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, surfing guide trips, surfing camps, team building, surfing awareness for kids, adults, women's only groups, parties, school groups and corporates.
Advanced and elite surf coaching is a speciality of XL Surf Academy. Robbie personally coaches surfers wanting to compete. He has successfully coached surfers including Wade Goodall and Linda Fischer to Australian titles 2004. 2005 coached Kalen Schloss to Queensland Junior title.
