Learn to surf and have surf lessons at the Cheyne Horan School of Surf, an ASI accredited surf school, located at Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast in Queensland and Lennox Head in New South Wales, Australia.
Cheyne Horan is a world surfing champion and big wave surf rider. He started competing on the World Professional Surfing Tour in 1973, at 16 years of age. He competed through until 2004 with 12 victories and consistently placed in the worlds top five. Click here to read about his achievements.
Cheyne is regarded as one of the most experienced and accomplished surf school operators in the world. He have been coaching for over 20 years and been at the forefront of developing operating procedures for surf schools, instruction techniques for surfing instructors and developing lesson plans for beginners to elite level. He operates surf schools in various countries.
Cheyne has also ridden some of the largest waves on the planet including the almighty Jaws. He has been, and still is, a major innovator in the development of new surfing techniques and products. He was the first person to complete and perfect the 360 turn.
Cheyne is a life member of the Australian Surfing Professionals, holds numerous lifesaving qualifications, heads up the Surfers Paradise Boardriders club, writes training courses for colleges and has produced numerous books and DVDs. He is also an ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach.
Cheyne loves surfing and enjoys teaching people. His unique training techniques and ability to choose learn to surf locations helps students to stand up in the easiest, quickest and safest way possible, with the ultimate of fun.
All instructors have been personally trained by Cheyne and are fully accredited with surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications.
Cheyne Horan School of Surf is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC). Cheyne and General Manager, Stephen Horan, are ASI Level 4 Trainers and are authorised to train others to be ASI accredited surfing instructors.
The Cheyne Horan School of Surf offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, surfing guide trips, surf camps, team building for kids, adults, parties, school groups and corporates. Special womens classes are also held. Surf tours of Queensland and New South Wales are offered.
Cheyne also offers personal elite coaching services for aspiring surfing professionals.
