Brad Holmes Surf Coaching is owned and run by Brad Holmes. Brad has been teaching students of all ages from beginners to advanced on the Gold Coast since 1992.

Although Brad does accommodate large groups, he specialises in personalised (private one on one) coaching – short board, bodyboard, long board and body surfing.

Brad grew up on the Gold Coast and has been surfing most of his life. He is an ASI Level 2 Surfing Coach, Level 3 Surfing Judge and holds a Diploma of Sports Management (Surfing Studies – 2004), Level 1 CADs (Coaching Athletes with Disabilities), surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications. Brad speaks 70% conversational Japanese, and a smattering of French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Mandarin and Thai. He is also actively involved in Rotary and was awarded a Pride of Workmanship award in 2009.

Brad Holmes Surf Coaching is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC). Brad is an ASI Level 1 Trainer and is authorised to train others to be ASI accredited surfing instructors.

He was the first surfing coach on the Gold Coast to introduce Stand Up Paddle Surfing, and also the first to surf the Artificial Reef at Narrowneck.

A qualified Tai Chi Instructor (with a background in acupuncture), Brad actively incorporates Tai Chi and Yoga in his student’s warm-ups. He conducts several sessions on the Gold Coast that are endorsed by the Gold Coast City Council.
