Learn to surf and have surfing lessons at BJs Surf School, an ASI accredited surf school, located at Terrigal Central Coast, 91 km north of Sydney.
BJs Surf School is owned and run by Brett Jones. He grew up in the local area and has been surfing since he was 7 years old. Brett loves surfing. He’s travelled the world, surfing and working in different countries. He was a lifeguard in England, a surf coach at a busy learn to surf school in California and worked as a surf guide, taking people out to surf breaks by boat, in Samoa.
Brett has been operating his surf school at Terrigal since 2000. After working in the US, Brett was inspired to come home and help others learn to surf. “The only surf school around, when I was young, was the ‘school of hard knocks’. It took ages to learn what to do”, says Brett. So now Brett helps others to learn in a friendly, easy way with his specially developed learn to surf technique. 99% of Brett’s students are standing in their first lesson.
“And there is nothing better than meeting all the different people who come to the surf lessons and seeing the excitement in their faces when they ride a wave”, says Brett.
Brett also does the surf reports for the local radio station - Star 104.5. If conditions aren’t ideal at Terrigal, Brett will know where to find the best locations on the Central Coast, so you are sure to get a surf to suit your skill level.
Brett is the main instructor and is assisted by qualified instructors, holding surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications.
BJs Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses and surf awareness for children, adults, parties, girls only, schools and corporate groups.
BJs Surf school also runs surf camps for kids in the holidays and weekend surf camps with great accommodation and facilities.
