Dave Davidson is the owner of Gold Coast Surf Coaching. He’s been surfing since he was 8 years old and started competing nationally and on the world circuit when he was 13. Dave’s competition achievements include: Australian Junior champion, was placed 1st SLSA open surfing title, 2nd in the Bodyglove Pro, Ocean Beach USA, 5th Sunset Beach Billabong Pro in Hawaii.
Dave opened his surf school at the Gold Coast in 1991. He’s been coaching beginners right through to the elite competition level for over 15 years. Dave coached the Australian team for the ISA world games in Brazil, was coach for the Gold Coast junior team and coaches current surfing champions.
Dave is a Level 2 Accredited Surf Coach, a Level 1 Surf Judge, holds his surf rescue, first aid and advanced resuscitation qualifications. He’s also made the cover of Tracks surfing magazine a few times - on some awesome waves!
Dave and his team offer group and private surfing lessons, beginner to advanced certificate courses, surfing guide trips, team building and surfing awareness, for kids, adults, parties, school groups, disadvantage groups and corporates. Dave also regularly provides lessons for at risk kids.
Surf lessons and coaching is available from 2 hour lessons to 10 week courses. Dave’s special instruction lesson techniques guarantee beginners will be surfing in 20 minutes, and intermediates are guaranteed to learn new skills. Lessons are structured to beginner, intermediate, advanced or elite level. BBQ’s are available at the surf location for people who want to combine leisure with their surfing lessons.
Dave also coaches and develops personal elite coaching programs to prepare aspiring surfing champions for the world circuit. He's coached a range of well known pro surfers.
