The Difference between a Cutback and a Roundhouse cutback

Posted: 31 May 2019

HELP

A cutback is performed when a surfer high lines on the wave, then changes direction by putting weight on their inside rail heading them down and back to the breaking part of the wave in an ‘S’ shape.

A roundhouse cutback is a more advance manoeuvre where the surfer continues a normal cutback and rebounds off the white water, like a big figure of 8. The higher up the wave the surfer rebounds off the white water the more speed they will generate coming back down the wave.

TIP: your body tends to follow the direction of your arms when surfing, so start by pointing where you want to head to and your body should follow. #Practicemakesperfect
