SUP Paddling on Knees for Safety

Paddling on your knees is a key safety technique when paddling your SUP.   Not only is it used to make the transition to standing but can keep you safe in a number of situations.   Learn the correct way to paddle on your knees. 

Self Rescue
When you are tired or injured or encounter changed weather and conditions, you may be too tired to stand up and paddle.  

In Shallow Water 
Less than 1 metre.   To protect against injury in case you fall off board.

Near Hazards
Such as pylons, docks boat wakes. To maintain balance and protect you from falling onto the hazard and becoming injured.
