In todays world, surfing is just one of many activities now carried out on our beaches. Therefore, the role of the surfing instructor is not only teaching clients to learn to surf, but also ensuring clients and others are safe and you have minimal impact on the environment and other beach users.
In response to industry need, ASI has developed 4 qualification levels - corresponding to a Nationally Recognised Training qualification as issued under the Australian Dept. of Education and Training.

Level 1 Surfing Instructor |

Instructors have a minimum of level surfing skill and knowledge

Level 2 Surfing Coach |

Coaches have level surfing skill and knowledge.)

Level 3 Elite Surfing Coach

Coaches have level surfing and experience coaching individuals for local to state surfing competitions.

Level 4 Master Surfing Coach |

Master Surfing Coaches are Elite Surfing Coaches (Level 3), experienced in conducting surfing guide trips and hold Teacher Education or Workplace Training and Assessment qualifications. They are also qualified to train other ASI instructors.
