Who we are

ASI is an adventure sports membership body providing internationally recognised accreditation and training services to adventure schools, clubs and instructors around the world.

Our current disciplines include surfing, stand up paddle and bodyboarding.

Our member services include accreditation, education, training,  educational resources, technical support and advocacy.

ASI is also a Registered Training Organisation with Australian education department endorsement to provide specific vocational education and training programs suitable for primary, secondary and tertiary school students.

ASI accreditation sets the world standard. It is the mark of high professional competence recognised and sought after by employers and the general public.


What we do

Provide the international industry standard that allows:
 - instructors to teach in different locations around the world.
 - the general public to identify high quality adventure schools

Provide operational procedures and quality assurance audits for accreditation of adventure schools.

Identify and create "learn to" curriculum levels to make learning easy.  Accompanied by learn to manuals, leaner resources and teachers guides.

Work with local and international bodies to represent the views and concerns of the profession to governments, regulators, industry and the general public.

Provide support services to our members including access to educational resources for use in their adventure schools, certification, technical and business support, industry updates, employment job board and professional development.


ASI Instructors

ASI accredited instructor courses and membership is provided worldwide.

Instructors can choose from a range of delivery solutions including workshops, on  the job apprenticeships and flexible learning courses.  

ASI accredited instructor training is delivered by ASI Head Office in Australia and ASI Instructor Training Centres (ASI ITCs) throughout the world.


ASI Schools

Provide the public with access to lessons, coaching and sports related experiences.

Have demonstrated they meet ASI accreditation standards for high levels of training, safety and operations.  

ASI accredited schools are authorised to display the “ASI accredited school” logo.

ASI Firsts in Industry

  • Developed the only international standard for instructors and adventure school accreditation.
  • Identified and created the learn to surf skills for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and covering ten levels of attainment.
  • The only worldwide publisher of the complete set of learn to surf manuals for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
  • The creator and only provider of the stand up paddle accreditation standards for learn to SUP levels, instructors and SUP school operations for different locations and SUP specialities.
  • The creator and only provider of  the bodyboarding accreditation standards for learn to bodyboard levels, instructors and bodyboard school operations.
