The Academy of Surfing Instructors ABN 27 106 467 976 core activities are the development and publishing of recreational surfing educational resources and accreditation services.

The Academy of Surfing Instructors has the following privacy policies:


Collection

We will not collect personal information unless it is necessary for one or more of our functions or activities.

Client information may be collected:
* at the time of purchase
* at the time of enrolling into training courses
* prior to the commencement of training courses, and/or during training courses
* applying, reapplying and during accreditation processes

For the purposes of:
* processing payment
* determining client suitability and type of training to provide
* determining suitability for accreditations
* direct marketing of the Surf School and / or ASI Head Office product and services and possible related products and services

The information will be collected lawfully and fairly, and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.

We will insofar as reasonably possible collect the information from the individual or organisation. Information may also be collected from other sources, including publications and databases that are publicly or commercially available.


Use and Disclosure

We will not use or disclose personal information about our clients other than for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

Where we use the information for direct marketing purposes we will ensure that it is not sensitive information and that the client has the opportunity to suppress their information from further marketing campaigns at no charge.


Data Quality

We will reasonably ensure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up to date. When the information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to destroy personal information.


Data Security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect the personal information we hold from misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.


Access and Correction

Clients can request access to their personal information that we keep on record. If the client believes that any information is incorrect or out of date, they may, of course, ask us to correct it.

Written consent for disclosure of information is required to be sent to ASI by the individual to access personal information and may not be otherwise disclosed without the individuals written consent.

There is no fee for requesting access to client's information, however we may charge for reasonable cost of processing the request.

Requests by clients to suppress their own information from our Direct Marketing database will be processed free of charge and may be directed to us verbally, in writing or via email.


Complaints Procedure

If the client has any complaints in relation to the handling of their personal information, please telephone or write to the Managing Director at ASI Head Office


Trans-Border Data Flows

We will only transfer personal information about an individual to a foreign country with less privacy protection in specified circumstances.

It is our policy not to transfer sensitive or personal information to countries with a lower level of privacy protection. Services which identify individuals and which are available to non-subscribers via our website are limited to data regarding individuals, companies and businesses and widely available information sources.
